how to solve the palestinian/israeli problem.

don't mean to go all political on you or anything, but i think shakespeare solved this problem for us about four hundred years ago. romeo and juliet. duh. just have some high-status people get married. hopefully they won't have to die, but that's how to solve a feud. duh.

don't really know why i'm smiling...

in front of the judean wilderness where people (man in the good samaritan, a bunch of prophets, and not to mention the son of God) have died or all almost died trying to cross it...woops!

that's more like it: pain

outside of the monastery at jericho. yeah yeah...kennedy and i basically wanted to take a picture of us with headscarves on...

freaking love the palestinians for pictures:

love the kids that pose for me:

more children:

picture deserves it's own post:

gotta love this kid who stopped his horse when he saw my camera while he was walking down the street--trotting next to traffic--so he could pose for me. this is the street that goes from the jerusalem center to the old city and west jerusalem.

church of the holy sepulchre golgotha

(the site of christ's crucifixion is disputed between being here or "skull hill" which is next to the garden tomb...pictures later maybe...)

23 January 2010

picture taking buddies those first few fruitful days:

lauren from vegas who also i shared hostel rooms and food and coaches and plane rides and essays with in england

ron who is from portland, shares my thinking that maybe oregon is really the promised land, and is fearless jay-walking, having spent eight months in napoli--oh yeah, and two years total in italy.

buses always make me want to go to sleep.

first field trip!
side note: somehow i feel like all of the pictures of me looked better in paris...i'm convinced that it's harsh lighting here in the desert. plus i don't have clothes from zara to keep me company :(

viewpoint of the old city. (obviously i'm the view)

kailee and i on top of a church bell tower overlooking judean wilderness and...other places too

lutheran church with bell tower:

on a hill overlooking bethlehem. lindsay is my roommate in the middle throwing down the peace signs. marissa shoulds stop looking cute. she's on the other side

by bethlehem...maybe this is what it looked like when the shepherds were shepherding...?

barracks (i just spelled that "baracks" for some reason...ha) or something like unto it that were used by the jordanians in the war
